A Helpful Hand for the Parent Traveling Solo w/ChildApr 01, 2008

I'm not sure where to start. We purchased Trixie (the pink trunk's name) to help me and 3 1/2 year old travel by plane. I was traveling without my Husband's pair of hands, so I was worried as to how I would manage everything. Trixie is like a super-hero in our family.
I kept Trixie under wraps until the morning of the trip. When my Daughter saw it her eyes just POPPED out of her head. She was so excited so it clearly got her attention. We filled it with activities to keep her busy on the plane, which I felt was one of the main purposes for it (not to check it as luggage).
I pulled my Daughter through the airport on it. Be prepared for the comments, everyone had something to say about the little princess riding her "float." I was unsure that at 3 1/2 she'd stay on it, but she did. In as much as she loved riding it, she loved to pull it "like a big girl" too!
On the plane it was easy to store under the seat and pull out to access games, colors, toys, etc.
Since most airports have fairly straight concourses, pulling and steering the Tunki was pretty easy. Admittedly a little rough at first, but you figure out how to handle it quickly. Hard right or left turns are challenging, but remiding the child to scoot back towards the end (as the instructions indicate) helps make steering easier.
We love the fact that you can use the strap to both pull and carry on your shoulder. Our Trixie Trunki took a dive off the rental car shuttle's luggage rack and landed right on the loop where the strap connects. It didn't break the Trunki, and while it still shuts and locks adequately, it doesn't seem as tight as it initially was. Be careful when stowing it; don't stand it on the wheels where it can roll off and fall. Had it hit the concrete, I think Trixie's strap connector would have bit the dust.
We were thrilled. Our Daughter was thrilled. It made traveling solo with Mommy easy on both she and I! I recommend it! I really wanted to give it 5 stars, but If I'm being honest, Trunki should revisit their idea and try to improve the steerability and durability. That being said, we do not regret this purchase one bit.

Avery grown-up concept with a decidely fun twist!Sep 17, 2007

My friend Lionel reviewed this product on his blog, and I was fascinated. I tend to travel with my 3-year-old daughter quite a bit, back and forth to Mimi's house, so we've logged many, many hours of waiting in various airports. A new toy...that helps organize all the other toys I HAVE to bring...and a ride-on at that???? Pure genius!
We have the pink - of course. It's incredibly sturdy-feeling and packs quite a bit of...ahem...important stuff that just has to go with us on a plane.
It doesn't quite fit under the seat, and we have gotten some *very* odd looks from security as they shuffle us through. I'm sure it once triggered a hand-search just because they guy wanted to see how it works. The child even had to demonstrate its ridability must to the hilarity of the security staff.
Big thumbs-up from our family. Now we just need to find one that can support a 47-year-old man....

Best Suitcase for Kids!Jan 23, 2008

This is truly the best suitcase for kids! I purchased this suitcase along with the blue one for my son a few months ago. And until now, we have simply used it for car trips and for play around the house. It was fun, but . . . this week I went on a trip with my 3-year old and I realized why I bought this suitcase. She had so much fun going through all the airports riding on her suitcase. It was great! It made the trip so easy for me, and she couldn't wait to play on it. I was able to keep all of her toys and DVD player inside for the plane ride, and then in the airport, we were in a hurry, so she sat on the trunki, and I pulled her all the way from one end of the concourse to the other. She giggled the whole way. I highly recommend this product for any todder who travels a lot. It was worth every penny. It is very sturdy, not to mention cute, and a lot of fun for kids. GREAT all around suitcase.

Best travel product for kids on the market!!Oct 30, 2011
By Jenna Hi, I normally would never write any review, but because the Trunki has such bad reviews I am going to write one this time. First to say, we have 4 kids under the age of 5 and we travel at least once a year to Germany with a 10 hour flight. This year I found the Trunki suddenly on Amazon.com and was very hesitant to buy it because of the bad reviews. I am sooooooooooo happy I did buy it. I bought for my 4,5 year old Sunny (orange) and for my 3 and 2 year old 2 Trixis (pink). From the start, they loved the suitcase. They where riding it around the house. They also said that these are their dogs. I read that the suitcase sometimes opens unexpectedly and because I didn't want to deal with that I made a belt for the suitcase. On the day of our big journey, we packed the suitcases with all kinds of things and made the belt around. On the airport the kids where pulling the suitcases without any problems. When we had to wait in line for a long time, the kids sat on their suitcases and then drove around on them. People where turning right and left for us and asking where we got them. After our 10 hour flight the kids where very tired and so we sat them on their suitcases and we pulled them all over the airport. The suitcase never tipped forward or to the side. They fit perfectly under the plane seats and in the over head storage. Now after we are back and the suitcases where driven around 4 airports, I can say, that this is the best Idea ever. We never lost any wheels, nothing broke and the snaps also never broke off. We used the suitcases instead of a stroller and this was a really good idea. So I can say, these suitcases are worth every penny and make your trips so much easier. I hope this review helped a little bit, in making decisions about the Melissa & Doug Trunki.

By Dana James Locks on this come off easily. Locks are hard for parents and kids to open. Great idea if easier to open. Purchased for 5 and 3 year old for a plane trip.
