Don't buy this product - it is defectiveDec 21, 2006
By HSO3 I've had three, that's right 3, of these baby monitors. When you first buy them they work well - then they break. And, they all break the same way. The screen starts to flicker until you get a small horizontal solid line. The audio will continue to work, but you can't seen anything on the screen. Summer knows about this and will replace your monitor for $50 or give you a new one if you complain enough. This is clearly a defective product and they are just betting that most people won't complain about it. They should recall the product or take it off of the market, but won't as long as people keep buying it. Choose another video monitor or save yourself some money and buy an audio monitor instead; because that's all you'll have with this unit several months from now.

We couldn't be happierDec 27, 2006

We've had one of these since just before my daughter was born in early 2004. We have used it every night, all night, since (other than about 5-10 nights when we were out of town), and many, many days too. It has worked perfectly for us, and has not broken down.
A few tips: (1) like any other radio transmitting device, it can be finicky about where it is located, and the position of the antenna; you need to play with it to get optimum reception; (2) it operates on the 900 MHz frequency, which a couple of our phones do also; if you use the phone, the thing goes completely static, and you just can't use the monitor at all; if you can't live with that, get another monitor, or another phone (which, for privacy's sake, you should do anyway, because 900 MHz phones can be easily listened to by the neighborhood busy body).
All in all, we love it. In fact, I'm at the website today in order to buy another one for my son's room. We've told everyone we know how great these are.

Been using this for 3 yearsNov 12, 2006
By LRW We have been using this monitor for over three years. This is actually our second. The first one we had for two years and the video stopped working (but I also dropped it). I called Summer Bend and told them about it and since it was past the warranty they couldn't give me a free one, but they told me to send it in and then they sent me a new one for $35. I thought it was very nice of them. Every once in a while we get a little static, but figured it was because there was too much in between the camera and the video, so we just put the video monitor a little higher to bypass the interference and it works perfectly. I love it and would recommend it to anyone.

Not Terrible, Not GreatJun 19, 2006
By Heather H I have been using this monitor for 10 months now, however we only use it for the video function. We had chosen this monitor because it had the option to view the baby on the video or turn the video off and just use the audio monitor during the night, but this is not an option for us. The video works wonderfully, even with the night vision, however the audio is terrible. The first night I used the audio function by itself, I woke up to my baby screaming in the other room, but nothing coming out of the monitor. The next night I tested it and found that if you move it around so you don't hear constant (LOUD) static, you hear nothing. So I now use a separate monitor for audio (sights and sounds and I LOVE it) and use the video only when I need to take a peek at what my son is doing in his crib. I find the video very helpful for knowing when I need to go in and soothe him, or when he is just playing or just fussing a little before bed. If you choose to buy this monitor, be sure to use another means for listening for your baby.

MUST HAVE!!!Jun 27, 2007
By Inge K. Lincoln This is a must have for babies and for toddlers. I received mine as a gift 4 years ago for my 1st son and hooked an additional camera to it for my 2nd son. It has great picture and sound so you are not constantly running into the rooms and seeing if they are awake or just fussing. And for the toddlers room it is great to have just to know what they are doing. I purchased this one as a gift for our best friends since we love ours!!! You will love it!
