Fresh, additive-free natural foods are essential for the healthy development of all children. Now every parent can prepare tasty and nutritious meals with the Organic Baby & Toddler Cookbook. Why Choose Organic Food? Babies in the womb and young children are particularly vulnerable to the harmful effects of pesticides, additives, and genetically modified ingredients in food. Lizzie Vann, founder of Baby Organix in the UK, a pioneering organic babyfood company, explains how to avoid these dangerous elements, including helpful tips on deciphering food labels and identifying the most harmful additives to avoid. She also gives advice on where to shop for organic products and what organic staples to buy. Easy and quick recipes and menu plans are carefully adapted for each stage of your child's development. Each section outlines essential superfoods for each age stage and provides appetizing recipes for healthy, satisfying meals. From fruit purees for our baby to healthy snacks and independent food choices for the toddler, there is food here that the whole family will enjoy. Advice for vegetarians and children with special dietary needs is also featured. Organic Baby & Toddler Cookbook explains the benefits of organic food for you, your child, and for the environment.

4Refines your child's palateAug 12, 2010
This book is encouraging in exposing your child to wonderful, wholesome & natural flavors of organic food. I had read recently somewhere that a study showed that the longer you waited to introduce your child to solid foods, the more picky an eater you get. In other parts of the world where they don't have books like this, mothers are giving their children food from the table and their children become accustomed to their own culture's cuisine. The seasonings in this book are few and in my opinion much too conservative but that doesn't mean you can't cook to taste. The recipes are easy and spark some good ideas to start off on. I really like that it breaks it down by your baby's age & stage of development. I was surprised to find that sure enough, my children were ready for the next stage before it even occurred to me. You can get really creative. I would add sweet potato to a new dish because I knew my kids liked it and it added a tiny bit of sweetness. When introducing a new food, I always accompanied it with a food that they already liked & were familiar with. BTW, have you TASTED bottled baby food? Even the organic, freshly frozen fancy stuff is AWFUL. Once I started cooking for my kids, they refused all manufactured baby food. The downside is they like their veggies freshly prepared and will not tolerate leftovers. That part is hard. But do I love that they love their vegetables? Do I love that they prefer homemade meals to even restaurant food? You betcha.

5Terrific recipes with diverse ingredientsJul 30, 2010
I loved this book and purchase it for all my friends. It has great recipes with many spices and flavors that my baby loved. I would make more than one recipe at a time and freeze. Pureed at first and then started leaving larger pieces as my baby got older. I still use some of the recipes, which are good for adults, too, and my son is 4.

I'm really surprised at the low ratings it gets. I have about 10 baby/toddler cookbooks and this is by far the best and most used. I'm a cook, a foodie, and absolutely love this book.

Buy it. Use it.

5love it!May 20, 2010
I keep looking up foods in this book and am so glad there is a listing for them. How to prepare and when to serve to baby. It is so helpful and encouraging to have recipes that are fun and tasty and not at all boring.

5Great GiftDec 27, 2009
I bought this as a gift for my new cousin. Her mother is vegan and her father is a vegitarian. They make all her baby food and loved the great ideas from this book.

5Still using this book!Dec 04, 2009
I bought this book 3 years ago when I was pregnant! It's pretty good! So good, we (our entire family) still enjoys food from this book today!
