I decided to purchase this playmat after seeing it in Parents magazine's Nov. 2009 issue ("54 Best Toys of the Year"). My daughter is 3 months old and loves playing with this! The playmat is very colorful and visually stimulating, and the puffy toys (mommy, daddy, baby, cat, flower and sun) are of excellent quality. I especially like that it has 3 "modes" - folded up into a 3D "dollhouse" (one side of the mat), unfolded it has different scenes on the other side of the mat, or with the sides folded up and rainbow going across the top so that she can kick and grab the toys. There is always lots for her to look at, and the different toys make various sounds (the flower is crinkly, the cat jingles, the baby has a squeaker in it, etc.). The baby, cat and flower are on different shapes of different colors, which will be great when she is old enough to start learning shapes, colors and simple words (like baby, cat and flower). These 3 toys also have soft velcro on the back, and can attach to the outside of the "dollhouse". The playmat folds up for easy storage and mobility.
It may be a little on the pricey side, but in my opinion, it is worth it. She will be able to play with this for many months: the playmat with sides folded up from 0-4mos and for tummy time (there is also an unbreakable mirror that comes with the mat), the flat mat with scenes on either side once she is sitting up, and the dollhouse when she is 6mos+. The different shapes, vibrant primary colors and simple yet visually stimulating design and excellent construction make this a great playmat and toy. It is also unlike any others that I have seen in stores or online, so it makes for a great, unique gift. Highly recommended!

I don't know how long I spent looking at play gyms before I FINALLY decided on this one. I bought it for the fact that it is versatile and can be used for a long time with all the different activities. My daughter is 4 months old and has only started getting interested in it. She hated laying on her back for awhile and tummy time is torture!! She now loves it and tries to grab at the toys.
My cons - it is pricey! I've also noticed that she doesn't have a lot of room to roll over. She seems like she can do it and is getting really close but there isn't that much space for her to do it. If she does she'll roll right into the fold of the mat.
Overall - good buy and she likes it so much, she's asleep in it right now :)

I researched a ton of activity mats before purchasing this one. I will say it is very cute! We've had it for a couple of months now and our almost 5 month old daughter loves it. HOWEVER, we carry it around the house to different rooms and for some reason now the toy bar won't stay up completely. Also, our daughter has started rolling over and when she does it at a particular angle the whole thing topples in on her! She's also a big kicker and will kick the sides and again the whole thing can collapse very easily. I am constantly messing with the thing to get it to stand up straight. I'm now looking into a double bar one like we had for our first daughter (which became damaged in storage) because the shape holds up so much better...

Originally noted this item in an article. My little one loves it. We bought it for her at 7 weeks and she lit up immediately. She especially enjoys trying to kick the sides to make the sun move and make music. I love that I can machine wash the mat. I also especially love that it can fold up into a little playhouse for her to play with when she is a little older. Very pleased with purchase and price.

This has entertained my baby since she was a month old. The designs and color contrasts got her attention before she could see much of anything else. Now she is working on grasping the hanging toys. Because of the sides it is a safe place to let her play unattended for short periods of time.
