Too small for parentsApr 19, 2005

I have a 1 year old daughter who loves it when I make puppets talk to her. I have really had a hard time finding puppet in the local stores, so I decided to turn to the internet. I used to have some Sesame Street puppets when I was a kid and thought that they were great. So I figured this would be a perfect puppet to use with my daughter.
Here's the thing. The opening into the head of this doll is too small to get a grown ups hand into and still be able to operate the puppet with any ease. Also, the mouth is very stiff making it hard to open and close.
The overall look of the puppet is good, but it isn't very user friendly. Needless to say, I am pretty disappointed in this product and wish that I wouldn't have bought it.

Lots of funMay 25, 2010

My daughter loves it. I don't think it is designed for kids to operate, but kids can still have fun with it even if they can't operate it. I agree that upon arrival the mouth is somewhat too stiff to operate even for adults. But the easy solution is to take the mouth and force it open wide to 'stretch' it open. After you've stretched it open for a bit, you can put your hand in and operate it much easier. My daughter and I have a blast with it. Very well made and high quality.

it's made wrongSep 14, 2009
By mpeson these puppets are sooo cute! I bought ernie and bert and the craftmanship is fantastic. unfortunately they're made wrong (wrong dimensions). its hard to open and close the mouth, its very stiff. the arms are way too long for your fingers to articulate them. there's no way you can move the mouth and the arms at the same time. its too bad because they're adorable otherwise. my 20 month old hasn't shown much interst in them.

Hey Bert!Oct 08, 2007

Ernie arrived with Bert and my husband was so happy to be the puppeteer to our 5 month-old daughter.
Ernie's mouth moves much easier than Bert's. Also because his head is wider, it is easier to fit in an adult male hand.

Difficult to useMar 02, 2006
By Nicole H. Markelz Our baby can recognize Ernie, so we thought he'd really like an Ernie puppet. He does like it, but we have a hard time making the mouth move. It's a pretty small opening and it's stiff. It's still a cute toy, though.
