Calico Critters Nursery School Not Worth the MoneyJul 06, 2010 My granddaughter has numerous Calico Critters sets including the house, many of the furniture sets, and the table. Up until now, I was very pleased with the quality and play value. Today we purchased the Calico Critters Bathroom and the Preschool. The Bathroom was very nice and fairly priced at about $13.00. However, the Preschool was a rip-off. The two Critters, the little building, the four little desks, and the sink are adorable. These pieces make a nice quality set in themselves, and would be fairly priced at $18 to $25. However, the price was about a whopping $53.00! One thinks the high price is based on the "40" pieces and accessories. However, when one opens the toy, 27 of the accessories are paper/cardboard junk that will not withstand more than one play session. Twelve of the "accessories" are nothing but tiny little squares of paper that supposedly are teaching color/pattern cards for the school. Even the "toy box," which should have been made out of plastic, is a little piece of thin cardboard that is smashed the first time a child plays with it. Either the price on this item should be substantially reduced or the manufacturer should remove the paper junk and subsitute some quality accessories that can actually provide some play hours. In the meantime, don't waste your money on this one!

Grandaughter Christmas GiftDec 25, 2007 After opening many packages, our 6 year old Grandaughter spent about 2 hours playing with her Calico Critters present and then she took very little interest in her many other gifts (toys). As Grandparents, we felt that the Calico Critters was a nice gift that will keep her busy and quiet as she plays with it. She has 4 other brothers and sisters so you can imagine the enjoyment we get when all are excited and she was the one that ployed quietly.

Sort of cute, but horribly overpricedDec 17, 2007 I bought this for my daughter, who is almost 4. It is cute, but there is nothing that sets it apart from any other plastic playset. Except, of course, that it is triple the price it should be! The school came with two baby critters, 4 school desks, two play blocks, a sink, a baby pool and some accessories. The accessories, which consisted of two boxes, four books, four notebooks, and two pieces of plain yellow felt (which I think are supposed to be rugs) were cheap and poorly designed. They were made out of cardboard, paper and stickers and you had to assemble them yourself with terrible directions. Keep in mind that they are about the size of a postage stamp, so it was frustrating and clumsy. I ended up throwing half of them away. My daughter is enjoying playing with the babies, but I don't think the toy was worth anywhere near the price that I paid.
